Today is one of those I LOVE BEING A GUARDIAN AD LITEM kind of days. After a year and a half of work, one of the children on my case load is getting adopted. The family is incredible, the child is safe and loved...shouldn't this be every child's story??? His adoption is at 2:00 today. Can't wait!!!!

Render has volunteered to do the sound at our local Pride Festival this Sunday. I think while he is there, I am going to Red Lobster with my new signs!!!! Why would I do this? Well because God has told me clearly what he likes and doesn't so I am compelled to act...I know that God Hates Shrimp...that's right
Shrimp, crab, lobster, clams, mussels, all these are an abomination before the Lord, just as gays are an abomination. Why stop at protesting gay marriage? Bring all of God's law unto the heathens and the sodomites. We call upon all Christians to join the crusade against Long John Silver's and Red Lobster. Yea, even Popeye's shall be cleansed. I have been living in my neighborhood for 9 years. 8 of those years I had not one complaint. NOT ONE!!! I love my house and my neighborhood. One year ago I got a new neighbor. She was fine for a month and then her boy friend AND HIS SEVEN DOGS move in. The dogs barked all the time...we tried talking to them, leaving a note on the door and finally calling the police. Finally after six months of struggles they get rid of four dogs. Of course they were pissy with us and it became quite tense over here (they would yell out their windows for us to keep the noise down if we did ANYTHING after 8:00). So this summer when we got mulch delivered we used it as a peace offering...we said they could use all the mulch they wanted at no cost and told them, "that is what neighbors are for." Well things were good for a month. But now the weather is nice and they got a BBQ pit installed...oh and they just love to hang out with the three dogs and their friends until midnight, talking, playing the radio and having a good ole time. I could go over and talk to them but it will just start last years fiasco all over again. They really are idiots. We all live soooooooooo close to each other, how could it not dawn on them that they should move the party inside after 11 PM? So this is my reality. I can accept that I can never open my windows again and will fall asleep to noise or we can move. If we move, we can rent or get a new place. I would LOVE to leave Ohio but my boys are BEGGING me to stay local.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO????? Hey, I'll leave it up to you guys...should I move or stick it out????

Okay so last week Lisa didn't win...WOO HOO! I mean...Stephanie won...WOO HOO! Tonight is the Top Chef reunion and the Fan Favorite will be announced...so who do you think it will be? I think Richard or Spike. Oh and who will be surprised that so many people didn't like them??? OH YES that will have to be the LOVELY LISA!!!! This just might be fun :-)

I realize not everyone has to do things my way. I am honestly fine with that!!! But I am GREATLY frustrated by Quackery. I am GREATLY frustrated by those who prey on the vulnerable. I am GREATLY frustrated by those who make themselves vulnerable by not having critical thinking skills. I am all for supporting choice BUT the great tragedy of cancer quackery is that patients needlessly die as a result of being diverted from effective standard treatment.

But I must accept that pushing this issue will cost me the loss of a friendship. I am therefore, keeping my mouth closed and I am not mentioning cancer treatment to Salma anymore. I am going to try and set up at least one day each week that we can go out and do something fun together. I will just be with her and enjoy her for probably her last year on earth. Of course I wish things were different, but they aren't. *sigh*

I just spent the morning talking to my friend who has stage 4 stomach cancer. She stopped her chemo this week. WHY??? Oh because a homeopathic doctor told her that cancer patients don't really die from the cancer they die from the chemo, oh and he can cure her with acupuncture and vitamins, oh and she shouldn't be eating Ensure and other high calorie milk shakes that her doctor recommended because he can tell by looking at her that she has a milk allergy oh and his $100 vitamins have her feeling better already oh and cancer doctors just tell you to get chemo because oncologists are running a scam....I'll stop now, my head hurts! I may cry.

Render and I finished Lost last night...we are all up to date....hmmm, I don't know what to think. This series will either be the best I've ever watched or the worse all depending on how they eventually end this...I am TOTALLY game for a new season...but I'm just wondering something...do you think the writers have this series all planned out or are they wrtiing season to season and no ending has been planned yet?

Being Catholic is better than being a Unitarian...at least in the summer. Catholics have air conditioning. Unitarians decide to save money by not using their air conditioning when it is 92 degrees outside. I will update you about who is better next week when I go to the United Church of Christ service.

Render and I have been watching back to back Lost episodes. We stopped watching after season 1 but decided to kick it into high gear and watch seasons 2-4. I don't know if watching 4 episodes last night added to my trouble sleeping...but I'm sure it didn't help!

JUST before I drifted off to sleep, something asinine I did in college popped into my head. It was 24 years ago! But BANG it was fresh in my psyche as if it was yesterday! I felt incredibly anxious and couldn't fall asleep! I wandered around the house for awhile, popped a couple tylenol PM and finally got to sleep. WT???? Have you ever had this happen?

Normally I ignore this kind of craziness. I find the vast majority of people so ignorant as to be beneath my contempt. But I finally saw the Rachel Ray Dunkin' Donuts picture and she is just wearing a scarf.... around her neck! Anybody who could construe this as even vaguely Muslim has issues.

Yet there are enough people bothered to have started an effective letter writing campaign. I understand Dunkin' Donuts must cowtow to the consumer masses, but shame for giving into ignorance and paranois.

I was really a bad friend all weekend. I called nobody and did nothing outside of the house. EXCEPT I took a Yoga Nidra class. Yoga Nidra was touted as deep relaxation. I of course poo pooed the concept of changing my consciousness. But the idea of being relaxed for an hour just sounded too good. So I went. Well you guys I am totally sold! I never fell asleep but something happened that was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cool. I was in the most relaxed state I have EVER experienced in my life. Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep. It is a state of conscious Deep Sleep. In Meditation, you remain in the Waking state of consciousness, and gently focus the mind, while allowing thought patterns, emotions, sensations, and images to arise and go on. However, in Yoga Nidra, you leave the Waking state, go past the Dreaming state, and go to Deep Sleep, yet remain awake.

Has anyone else ever done this????

Dylan was in preschool. It was the year before he went into kindergarten. I had a small gathering of friends at my home. I invited my local school's PTA president and her family over to my home (I met them at a new parent orientation). During the party I overheard the PTA president's husband start telling an off color racial joke. I walked up to him and said, "I'm sorry, but we don't tell jokes like that in my home." He smiled and mumbled a quick apology. But then do you know what he did???? He went on my front porch (where my friends were smoking) and told the joke there. He figured the joke was FINE as long as he wasn't IN MY HOME!

Yes folks, people REALLY are that stupid!!!!
