Hack, cough, hack and cough some more!
For over a year now, Jason has had a chronic cough.  It is around for about a month and then disappears for a few weeks then comes back again.  Sometimes he coughs all day, other times only at night, making it difficult for him to fall asleep.  Our pediatrician did everything he could think of:

1. Sinus x-ray
2. Treatment for seasonal allergies
3. Treatment for asthma
4. Medication to stop the coughing reflex (maybe it's just a cough habit)

Nothing has worked.  We tried a new pediatrician and he is back on an inhaler.  Not helping.

But you know what has not been mentioned?  Environmental allergies and/or food intolerances. So yesterday I started monitoring every food and ingredient that is going into his body.  I told him no more eating out until we figure this out.  And I made an appointment for an allergist.  I hope it works!

Has anyone experienced this?  Any suggestions?

No personal experience with anything like that.. but I'm amazed they didn't refer him to an allergist earlier. Hope you find out what it is...

Sounds like you are on the right track though with food/environment. I was chronically sick with what I thought was asthma and it turned out to be an allergy to mold that was exacerbated by excessive water damage in my building.

how are you feeling?

I might suggest getting one of those air testers for his bedroom. The kind you leave out for a day and then see if it has mold spores and such.
Just a thought.

You might also try a tsp full of honey before he lays down. It coats the throat and might lessen any tickle that could cause the cough.

I'll think some more.

Hope you are doing good! It's so good to see you posting again!

went to the doctor today and got a referral to a specialist...but in the meantime, guess what she recommended? Yup a tsp of honey!
